Video exchanges in March

Here are some photos of our second video exchange which took place today. Here is the year 5 class which was the first group of the day.

We loved your presentations in English about meal times and what you eat in Spain. We were very surprised that you eat your dinner so late in Spain at 9 or 10 0'clock you probably think our 'Cena' is too early at 6 or 7 o'clock?

What the children loved the best.... your song in English about the fruits. They recognised it but you sang a longer version which they loved!

PenPal letters received!

A very big thank you to Year 5 and Maria for sending the penpal letters the children were so excited  to receive them today and they can't wait to write back.  The letters were in English and Spanish; we were very impressed with your English and we hope you will be with our Spanish. The children particularly  enjoyed the pictures you sent them.  We hope to send you our replies very soon.

Descriptions of some British food

Here are year 5's descriptions of some British food they have chosen themselves. On the day of the exchange they will try and present these foods to you in Spanish. They have been working very hard on their pronunciation! Can
you think of some questions you can ask them in English?

Second Skype preparation March 2017

Food Glorious Food!

These year 5 children are preparing for their second exchange with their twin school. The theme is food and the task was to think about some typical British food and describe these to our twin school in Spanish on the day of the exchange. The children worked in groups and came up with lots of ideas. Here are some pictures:

The Spanish teacher then helped the children translate their descriptions into Spanish which the children  will be learning and presenting to Alemendros on the day of the exchange.
Year 4 preparing the christmas cards for Almendros School

Here is a photo of Year 4's christmas cards before they were posted to Spain. The children in year 4 learnt all the key vocabulary in Spanish to do with Christmas and cut, coloured and labelled the pictures in Spanish before writing a personal message in Spanish to a child in their twin class in Spain.  Alex in year 4 said: "I am looking forward to receiving my christmas card from Spain and I hope we can become penpals"

Year 3 taking part in Skype session with their twin class

Here are some photos of the year 3 class at Chalgrove school in taking part in last term's Skype session.

They started by singing their twin school Almendros a song they learnt in Spanish called Los Colores they added actions for each colour and some dance moves! The year 3 class in Spain started clapping with the music and year 3 felt very  proud. Olivia in year 3 said: "We really enjoyed singing the song, at first when we saw the other class in Spain we were a bit scared but once we started we had lots of fun."

Year 3 listened while the Spanish children talked about themselves in English then they asked them some question in Spanish. The Spanish teacher said: "I was so proud of year 3, this was their first skype session and they have only been learning Spanish since September. They all did so well speaking clearly and their pronunciation was excellent well done year 3"

Some children took turns to talk about themselves in Spanish telling the Spanish children their name, age, where they live and how many people in their family.
